University of Mary Washington

Located in Virginia, University of Mary Washington is a public university. It offers the various types of undergraduate degrees in the liberal arts.

In 1908, Claude A.Swasnson (Virginiagovernor) begun to establish the new state school for women and the Fredericksburg Teacher’s college was established. In 1938 its name was changed to Mary Washington College. TheUniversity of Virginia joined the college as the women’s college in 1944. In 1972, the Virginia General Assembly decided to establish it as the separate institution.

Richard V. Hurley is the current president of the university. The total no. of academic staffs enrolled in the university is 206 and around 4,831 students are enrolled in its degree programs. 4,383 students are undergraduate students and the total no. of postgraduate students is 448.
