Located in Livingston, Alabama, west Alabama University is a public university. The University of West Alabama (UWA) was chartered in 1835 as Livingston Female Academy and State Normal College, a church-related female academy, and admitted its first students in 1839. In 1919 all states normal schools were placed under the supervision of the state board of education. After some years in 1929, it became a state teachers college, with the authority to confer the degree of Bachelor of Science. Financial Aid programs
The University of West Alabama offers a full range of grants, scholarships, part-time employment, and loans to assist students in meeting educational costs. Approximately 80% of UWA students receive some type of financial aid to support their studies. The Financial Aid Center will assist the student and their family in tailoring a financial aid package to cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, room, board, personal expenses, and travel. The student's financial aid must be complete at least 10 days prior to the start of each term to charge the costs against their financial aid award.
Online UWA
